What is Occupational Therapy (and do you need it)?

therapy2Did you know that your elbow pain may be caused by weakness in your abdominal muscles and legs, in addition to your elbow and shoulder? Research has shown that athletes who do overhead motions (think of tennis or throwing any kind of ball) and those who do repetitive rotation in sports (think of golf or bowling) are often more prone to overuse injuries at shoulder and elbow due to weakness in the trunk muscles and leg muscles. If you do suffer from such an injury, get a prescription for therapy services from your doctor and then plan to work hard on strengthening your core and your injured muscles at Stability. You can read more about our occupational therapy here.Marci Silverman is our Occupational Therapist on staff so feel free to email her at marci@stabilityatlanta.com with any questions.
