Pilates is "a Guy Thing" - Client Testimonial

I came to Stability Pilates in March of 2012 simply because my fiancé got me a gift certificate as a present. She wanted me to do something progressive for my back, which had been giving me trouble for seven years due to a series of car collisions. I was hesitant because I thought Pilates was“not a guy thing” but I went along. Lucky that I did because Pilates is the only form of treatment that has given me 100% relief from my chronic back pain. In early 2012, I was in a lot of pain, all of the time, taking Tramadol getting epidural pain injections and avoiding any activity whatsoever that could cause a flare-up. Doing 3 months of Pilates, going 3 times a week, I was pain free for the first time in seven years and I have been able to maintain that until today, so long as I keep my commitment to return. I got a membership with Massage Envy and it helped somewhat but I could not get 100% pain relief with massage, neither with chiropractic, neither with acupuncture (although acupuncture was 2nd best). You name it; I had tried it when it came to my disc bulge back pain. The benefits of Pilates wear off for me if I stop going. That is the curse of living with a chronic back condition. However, if I go once a week I am pain free. Pilates, my friends is “a guy thing”, and I would recommend it to men with back problems. I have become a fan of Stability Pilates because, simply put, they have helped me improve the quality of my life. Written by Kieran Claffey
